Sodium antimony gallate (trisodium digallate-(3, 4)-antimonite, Sb-273) is an effective schistosomicide. Its structure has been studied through a series of chemical synthesis, preparation of derivatives, degradations and IR analyses, and ultimately determined by X-ray diffraction. It is a complex salt with the molecular formula C14H6O10SbNa3·H2O which is formed through the coordination of four oxygen atoms and a water molecule to each antimony atom. The latter serves as a central atom in the complex anion.
