19-Nor-16-methylene-17α-acetogy-progesterone (10) whioh showed hormonal effect,was synthesized from ⊿5-3β-acetogy-16α,17α-epoxy-pregnen-20-one (1) via a 9 step process.Addition of HOCl to 1 gave 5α-chloro-6β-hydrogy derivative 2α,which was treated with Pb (OAc)4 and I2 in benzen) to yield 3β-acetogy-5α-ahloro-16β-methyl-6β,19-oxy-16α,17α-epoaypxegnan-20-one (3).
