The essential oil from the flowers of Loruocera japonica Thunb.was ezamined in detail by TLC,column chromatography,GC and GC-MS.A crystalline principle, named Shuang-hua-chun(双花醇),and a liquid component were isolated from tho essential oil by using column chromatography on silica gel,and were identified as(-)cis-2,6,6-trimethyl-2-vinyl-5-hydrogytetrahydropyran (Ⅱbor its antipode) and linalool respectively. From analyses of the IR and NMR spectra,it was concluded that the equatorial 5-hydroxyl group of Shuang-hua-chun in carbon tetrachloride solution is preferred to axial.
