It is found that the "weeping" of hydrophobic.gas electrodes is caused mainly by the increase of fluid pressure within electrodes.Equations were derived with which liquid flow rate and liquid pressure within electrodes can be calculated. Results of theoretical calculations agree reasonably well with experimental data.Based on suoh mechanism, it is suggested that "weeping" could be preimented effectively by minim izing liquid flow resistance within electrodes. From analysis of phase diagram, it is clear that the concentration and carbonate formation of alkali electrolyte is a prerequisite of salt-precipitation on and within electrodes. The mechanism of "salt-plug" formation was suggested to explain the various aspects of salt-precipitation phenomena observed in experiments.
