Copper phthalooyanine (PcCu) was vacuum evaporated at 5×10-5 tort onto optical flats coated with SnO2 conducting layer. When the substrate was not heated during evaporation, the PcCu evaporated film obtained was of a-modification. The crystallites were well oriented with their b-axes standing on the substrate surface as revealed from the intensity abnormality of X ray diffraction diagram and from the reflection electron diffraction pattern. When the substrate was heated to 250℃ during evaporation, the PcCu evaporated film obtained was of β-modification. The crystallites were no longer oriented but were in the form of spherulite morphology as shown by scanning eletron microscopy. When the a-PcCu evaporated film was heated to 250℃ in air at a heating rate of 1℃ per minute, it was converted into β-modification, while the crystallites remained oriented with standing b-axes.
