The effects of dehydrogenation of ethyl, n-propyl, n-butyl, n-amyl and isobutyl alcohols on the copper-chromium oxide catalyst have been investigated. It has been found that the activation energies of dehydrogenation are almost equal and independent of the structure of the alcohols. But the specific reaction rates are not equal, increasing with the length of the hydrocarbon chain, and the rate of isobutyl alcohol being less than that of n-butyl alcohol.
