With the object of ascertaining whether ring cleavage of chlorpromazine,one of the most widely used drugs in psychiatry,would lead to products retaining the tranquilizing activity and yet avoiding the side effects of the parent compound,we have synthesized in the present work a number of N-(β-p-chlorophenylmercaptoethyl)-y-dialkylaminopropylamines and N-(β-p-phenvlmercaptoethyl)-N-(γ-dialkylaminopropyl)-anilines.
