3β-Acetoxy-5α, 6β-dihydroxy-6α-methyl-25D-spirostane(Ⅰ) undergoes pinacol-pinaco-lone rearrangement on treatment with formic acid to give 3β-acetoxy-5β-methyl-A-homo-B-nor-25D-spirostan-4α-one(Ⅱ).
