In the ultraviolet region, the absorption spectrum of carbon tetrachloride in water is different from that of pure carbon tetrachloride.In the range λ=2000Å to 2500 Å，the absorption spectrum of carbon tetrachloride in water possesses a maximum at 2085Å，at which the optical densities are proportional to the concentrations of carbon tetrachloride in water, that is to say, Beer's law is obeyed.
