A semiquantitative comparison.on the relative rates of 1, 6-elimination of several δ-substituted.α, β-unsaturated steroidal keton.es was carried out spectropho-tometrically.The preliminary results indicated that the rate of elimination is faster in dilute alkaline medium than is in acidic medium, and the axial δ-substituent is more readily elixninated than the corresponding equatorial ones.
