Potassium antimonyltartrate is so far the only remedy for schistosomaisis in Chima.This drug is rather togi.c and has a number of side actions.Although 2,3-ditnercaptopropanol (Ⅰ) is an activo antidote against arsenic and many othor heavy metals,it detogicates potassium antimonyltartrate less effectively.A change in its pharmacological activity might bo caused by varrying its chemical structure,and several aryl ethers (Ⅱ) havo therefore been synthesized in the present work.
