Study on preparation and photocatalytic properties of titanium dioxide modified by metalloporphyrins

Abstract

meso-5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(2-thienyl) porphyrin (H2TTP) and its corresponding Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) metalloporphyrins were synthesized, then we used metalloporphyrins as photosensitizer, corresponding pohotocatalysts (CoTTP-TiO2, CuTTP-TiO2, ZnTTP-TiO2) were prepared and characterized by SEM, XPS, diffuse reflectance, FT-IR (KBr). The photocatalytic activity of photocatalysts were investigated by the experiment of photodegradation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in aqueous solution using 300 W high-pressure mercury lamp and 400 W metal halide lamp as light source respectively. These photocatalysts have higher photocatalytic activity compared with bare titanium dioxide, and the photocatalytic reaction accords with the first-order kinetic equation.
