Abstract

A new kind of multi-pore zeolite ball was prepared by powder sintering method at 1100~1300 ℃ for 1 h. Nature zeolite clinoptilolite was used as raw material. The diameter of sintered zeolite ball was 3~5 mm and the macro-pore diameter in the zeolite ball was about 1 mm. Compressive strength of the zeolite ball can reach 1.703×106 Pa. Sintering mechanism was studied by comparing the XRD and IR patterns of nature zeolite and sintered zeolite. Specific surface area of the multi-pore zeolite ball was calculated by BET adsorption method as 7.053 m2/g. Plenty of macro-pores and meso-pores were observed on the multi-pore zeolite ball by SEM method. Activated alumina was supported on the ball and a kind of multi-pore zeolite ball which has a good ability in absorbing the As ions was prepared. The mechanism of As adsorption on multi-pore zeolite balls was also studied. Research shows that the activated alumina supported zeolite ball has a wide application prospect in waste water treatment.
