The EI mass spectra of a series of bis(substituted benzoato) derivatives of titanocene Cp2Ti(OCOC6H4X)2, where X = H, o,m-F, o-Cl, o,p-Br, p-OCH3, o-NHAc, o-I, o,m,p-NO2 and 3,5-(NO2)2, were reported. The p-OCH3, o-Br and o-NO2-substituted compounds showed weak mol. ion peaks while others did not. All the compounds exhibited titanium-contg. characteristic fragment ions. The effect of the substituent on the Ph ring on the formation of other ion peaks was observed and discussed.
