The synthesis of tetrakis (4-N,N dimethylaniline) porphyrin (H~2TMAP) with electron-withdrawing group on meso site was improved. The yeild was increased from below 5%to 23%. A new water soluble tetrakis- (4-N,N,N dimethylpropanesulfonicaniline) porphyrin (H~2TMAPTPS) was synthesized directly from H~2TMAP and various metalloporphyrins (M'TMAPTPS, M'=Co, Zn, Cu, Ni, Mg, Mn) were prepared. These metalloporphyrin complexes were characterized by IR , UV-vis spectroscopy and element analysis. The synthetic method was discussed.
