One step synthesis of 4-arylpolyhydroquinoline derivatives using microwave irradiation

Abstract

A series of 4-aryl-3-ethoxylcarbonyl-1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydro -5-oxo-2, 7,7-trimethylquinoline and 4-aryl-7,7-dimethyl-2,5- dioxo-1,2,3,4,5,6, 7,8-octahydro-quinoline were synthesized by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, ammonium acetate, ethyl acetoacetate or meldrum's acid under microwave irradiation. The reactions were completed with in 2～ 8 min giving good yields of 5 or 6.
