In this paper, the preparation of 10-hydroxy decanonic acid from the caster oil is studied. A new technological path and best technological condition of the preparation of 10-hydroxy decanonic acid from caster oil is found. An orthogonal test L9(3^4) with amount of NaOH, amount of 2-octyl alcohol, reaction time and reaction temperature as factors A. B. C. D respectively, has been conducted and it is found that the best technological condition is A3B2C2D1[NaOH(g)/claster oil (g):1,25; 2-octyl alcohol (g)/caster oil (g):2; reaction time: 6h; reaction temperature 180℃]. Under the new technological path and best technological condition. The yields of 10- hydroxy decanonic acid reached up to 75%.
