Abstract

The S-S bond in diaryl disulfide wree reduced by low-valent titanium reagent to produce titanium arylsulfolate. The new sulfolate anion reacted with α,β-unsaturated esters or α,β-unsaturated nitriles to give β-sulfo esters and β-sulfo nitriles, respectively.
