Synthesis of 3,3-Arylidene bis(4-hydroxycoumarin) Catalyzed by Sulfamic Acid in Aqueous Media under Microwave Irradiation

A series of 3,3-arylidene bis(4-hydroxycoumarins) with 75%~96% yields were synthesized by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 4-hydroxycoumarin using sulfamic acid as catalyst in aqueous media under microwave irradiation. The procedure has the advantages of high yield, short reaction time, environmental begin and easy work-up. Their structures were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectra and elemental analysis.
