Abstract

(R)-2-Hydroxy-4-phenylbutyrate is a key intermediate for the synthesis of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI). The review will cover its synthetic methods, and mainly focus on the recent progress in efficient synthesis.
