Chemical Constituents of Sambucus L.

Abstract

The plants of Sambucus L. have good medical values, most of the roots and fruits can be used as medicine. In this review, the constituents including flavones, triterpenes, iridoid glycosides, phenols and phenolic glycosides, lignans, cyanophoric glycosides being covered during the recent twenty years are summarized. The inhibitory action of HIV-RT, antivirus, antiphlogosis, and labor pain activities are introduced in brief. On this basis, the medicine prospections of Sambucus L. are also prospected.
