A Novel Withanolide Glucoside from the Rhizomes of Dioscorea panthaica

Abstract

A novel withanolide type C28-steroid saponin, named dioscolide glucoside, was isolated from the rhizomes of Dioscorea panthaica Prain et Buckill.The structure was elucidated as (20S,22R,24R,25S)-1-oxo-2α,3α;6α,7α-diepoxy-5α,16α,25α-trihydroxy-withanolide-27-O-glucopyranoside by spectroscopic evidence including 2D-NMR.
