A New Tirucallane Triterpenoid from Galla chinensis

Abstract

A new tirucallane triterpenoid was isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Galla chinensis, along with five known tirucallane triterpenoids. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectrosopic data analysis. It is the first time to report triterpenoids from G. chinensis. Masticadienonic acid (3), isomasticadienonic acid (4) and masticadienolic acid (5) showed neuroprotective activity at a concentration of 1.6 μmol•L –1. This study provides a structure template for neuroprotection agent discovery.
