苯甲醯异硫氰与醇类在沸腾的丙酮溶液中能作用产生苯甲醯氨基硫代甲酸酯,它们通常是具有固定熔点的、良好地结晶的物质.由于这种试剂容易制备,它对于醇类的鉴定提供了一个比较便利合适的方法.

In boiling acetone solution benzoylisothiocyanate reacts readily with alcohols to form N-benzoylthiourethans,which in most cases are well crystallized solids with sharp melting points.Since the reagent is easily prepared,the procedure affords a convenient method for the identification of alcohols.
