本文主要報告α-苯基-β-(3,5-二碘-4-羥苯基)-丙酸的詳細合成方法。所得產品毒性較舶來品稍低,在X射線下不透光度很大,適合臨床上胆囊造影之用。實驗過程中,曾以氫碘酸及紅磷還原對甲氧基-α-苯代肉桂酸,未獲成功。但此還原反應在鈉汞齊作用下,可以順利進行。

A detailed procedure, which is essentially a modification of Baker and Briggs' method, is described here for the synthesis of a-phenyl-p-(3,5-diiodoJ4-hydroxy-phenyl)"propionic acid (Priodax). Two derivatives of Priodax, one being new, were also prepared. The Priodax obtained exhibits low toxicity and produces good cholecystographic shadows.
