By using strictly math. methods, transition time equation and E-t curve equation were obtained. The equations are the same as those obtained by former workers, but conditions of application are: DMp2t/l2 ?4 for equations t = lc*M/f0-l2/3DM and E = E0 + (RT/nF)ln[2l/(pDM+)1/2] + (RT/nF)ln [t1/2/(t-t)], DMt/l2 > 16.7 for t = lc*M/f0 which are quite different from those given previously. Therefore, some inadequacy in the former theory of potentiometric stripping anal. with Hg membrane electrode are remedied.
