The major alkaloid of Cissampedos parezra L,was first isolated by the Yunnan Pharmaceutical Institute.Its methiodide has been used clinically as muscular relaxant with a trade name as "Daijisong".On treatment with ethyl iodide,this alkaloid gave a diethiodide,which after exhaustive Hofmann degradation (twice) yielded a N-free substanc),identified as diethylbebeerilene.This compound was identical with the product from tubocurarine under similar treament.On direct comparison,the dimethyl ethor dimethiodide of this alkaloid was identical with a mixture of equal amounts of d and l O,O-dimthylourine dimethiodide.It is thus ooniirmed that Daijsong is the methiodide of dl-curine.
