Abstract

A series of dialkyl alkylphosphonates was synthesized for structure-reactivity studies. The second-order hydrolytic kinetics in an alkaline medium was studied and the temperature dependence of the reaction rate was evaluated. Both polar and steric effects of substituents showed considerable influence on the hydrolytic process.
