From the roots of an unidentified plant of Stemona species a new alkaloid, was isolated and namod stemoninine.It has a molecular formula of C22H31O5N, m.p.[α]D14-110℃(c, 1.02, ethanol).Several salts were prepared: perchlorate,m.p.162～165℃: methoidide, m, p.219℃ (decomp.);platinichloride.m.p.217～218℃ and aurichloride, m.p.171～172℃.
