1.In the gas chromatography, a plot of the logarithm of the retention volumes vs.1/T (where T is the absolute temperature) gives a straight line.It is found that these straight lines for compounds of the same homologous series intersect at the same point.This point, is independent of the nature of the stationary liquid, and is approximately the same as the point of intersection of straight lines of the straturated vapor pressure vs.1/T plots of the same family.
