The chemical composition of the floral absolute oil of Aglaia odorata Lour. has been studied by means of the GC-MS-DS technique in combination with IR and ^1HNMR spectroscopic analyses. In addition to the previously reported sesquiterpenes copaene, caryophyllene and humulene, the presence of α-cubebene, β-cubebene, bicycloelemene, β-santalene, γ-cadinene, α-murrolene, farnesene, γ-murrolene, β-bisabolene, β-cadinene, δ-cadinene, δ-elemene, γ-elemene, calamenene and calacorene has been detected from the hydrocarbone protion, while methyl jasmonate and humulene epoxide II proved to be the main constituents of the oxygenated portion in which humuladienone, humulene epoxide I, caryophyllene epoxide, T-cadinol, δ-cadinol, epi-cubebol, cubebol, ledol and the previously reported humulenol were also present. It is interesting to note that except methyl jasmonate this oil consists of almost completely sesquiterpenic compounds and not a single monoterpenic compound has been identified so far, while one of the previously reported main sesquiterpene components, γ-elemene (20%) appears here in this oil as γ-elemene (17.6%) and bicycloelemene (4.3%)
