Synthesis, Structure and Superoxide Dismutase-Like Activity of A New (Gly-cyl-β-alanine)(dipyrido[3,2-d:2,3-f]quinoxaline) Copper(II) Complex

A new complex, [Cu(Gly-β-Ala)(dpq)]•2H2O [Gly-β-Ala=Glycyl-β-alanine, dpq=dipyrido [3,2-d:2,3-f]quinoxaline], has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, molar conductivity, IR and UV-Vis spectra. The complex crystallizes in triclinic space group Pī, with a=0.70787(3) nm, b=0.96727(4) nm, c=0.52436(6) nm, α=97.016(2)º, β=100.859(2)º, γ=108.046(2)º, V=0.95624(7) nm3. The SOD-like activity of the complex in water solution has been measured by improved nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT)-illumination method, and the electrochemical property of the complex has been studied by cyclic voltammetry method. The results indicated that the complex possesses an excellent SOD-like activity, and the rate constant (KQ) of the complex for catalyzing the dismutation of is 1.53×107 mol-1•L•s-1.
