Several fluorochlore β-diketones were synthesized from Claisen condensation of ethyl difluorochloroacetate with methyl ketone in the presence of sodium ethoxide. The fluorinated methyl ketones, which were used as one of the reactants in the Claisen condensation, were synthesized by the following methods, namely: the addition of methyl Grignard reagent to ethyl difluorochloroacetate; the addition of bis (m-chlorotetrafluorophenyl) cadmium to acetyl chloride and the hydrolytic decomposition of β-keto ester.
