In continuous studies on the constituents of Man-Shan-Hong (Rhododendron dauracum L.), eight components were isolated by silica gel or alumina column chromatography. According to the spectroscopic analyses (UV, IR, NMR, MS),preparation of derivatives and determination of physico-chemical constants, four of them were identified as scopoletin, umbelliferone, andromedotogin and hydroquinone. The toxio principle, andromedotoxin, has so far not been isolated from Rhododendron, dauricumL. The pharmacological investigation and characterization of four other components were hampered by scarcity of material.
