Aromatic dinitrile containing benzothiazole ring can he polymerized to a cross-linked polymer with highly thermal stability.We have synthesized five such dinitriles as follows: Three related mono-nitrites were also synthesized.Some new intermediates obtained in the synthesis of these niiriles were also reported.The infra-red absorption peak of the cyano group in all these compound appeared at about 2232 cm^-1.
