Microwave radiation synthesis of layered potassium phosphatoantimonates

Two kinds of ionically conduction potassium phosphatoantimonates, KSbP2O8 and K3Sb3P2O14 with layered structures have been successfully synthesized by a new synthesizing method-microwave radiation synthesis. The synthetic reaction was processed in a commercial microwave radiation was observed. We used activated char or Fe2O3 as heating medium in order to induce the microwave absorption of reactant components at higher temperature. Compared with the conventional solid state reaction, where the typical synthesis conditions are at 950~1000℃ for 24h, the microwave solid state reactions were competed within only 40~90min. The possible effect of the microwave radiation on the solid state reaction were discussed.
