Synthesis and Spectrum Stability of an Oligomeric Terfluorene Tethered with Antioxidant Hindered Amine

The origin of the low-energy emission band (LEEB) of fluorene-based blue electroluminescent materials has no identical conclusion. Based on keto-defect mechanism, a blending antioxidant strategy for stabilizing the organic semiconductors was previously proposed. In this communication, the antioxidant hindered amine was covalently incorporated into terfluorene to synthesize a complicated 9,9-diarylfluorene (CDAF), DF-PTMPF, in order to prohibit the fluorenone-induced LEEB. DF-PTMPF with φ of 1.4 (φ=IGreen/IBlue) shows higher spectra stability than TDHF (φ=2.4) after annealing for 120 h. However, DF-PTMPF initially exhibits LEEB after annealing for 24 h under N2 atmosphere, which indicates that aggregates and/or an excimer still play a crucial role in the origin of LEEB.
