Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were modified by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), and used to prepare catalyst TiO2/CNT. The catalytic activity of TiO2/CNT was tested by the transesterification between phenol and dimethyl carbonate (DMC). The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, SEM and TEM. The results showed crystalline TiO2 were not yet formed, while amorphous was favorable to the transesterification. ICP results approved that more active species were loaded on CNT modified by surfactant. Furthermore, influence of the sort of surfactant on catalytic activity was studied, and the result showed that cationic surfactant was suited to TiO2/CNT for the transesterification between phenol and DMC. TiO2/CNT-C catalyst had a preferable reuse due to the electrostatic interaction between active species TiO2 and support CNT-C.
