Abstract

Treating benzenes I (R, R1 = MeO, H; MeO, Me3C; Me, H) with R2COCl (R2 = Me, Et, cyclopropyl, Me2CH, Ph) in CS2 in the presence of AlCl, gave the ketones II. The UV, IR, NMR, and mass spectra of II and their derivatives were reported.
