Application of microdisk electrode-voltammetric analysis in ionic conductive polyethylene glycol

In ionic conductive polyethylene glycol, the voltammetric properties for ferrocene oxidation at microdisc electrode are explored. Experimental results demonstrate that, if the electroactive molecules don't react with polymeric solvents, its diffusion behavior in polymeric solvents still follows Fick diffusion equation and the current-voltage curves can be described quantitatively. A simple method for evaluating the diffusion coefficient under the condition of unknown concentration of electroactive substance in ionic conductive polyethylene glycol is presented, and the effects of temperature, salt concentration in polymeric solvents as well as molecular weight of polyethylene glycol on diffusion coefficient of ferrocene have been discussed.
