Preparation and Electrochemical Property of LaFeO3 Electrode Material

LaFeO3 powders with an orthorhombic structure were prepared by a stearic acid combustion method, and its electrochemical properties were investigated as the negative electrode of Ni/MH batteries. The results show that the LaFeO3 has a reversible charge-discharge capacity, and its discharge capacity rises with the test temperature increasing and decreases with increasing discharge current density. At 298, 313, 333 and 353 K, after 20 cycles, XRD data show that the LaFeO3 remains a perovskite-type structure and the discharge capacity keeps about 49, 110, 310 and 490 mAh•g-1 respectively, indicating a good cycling stability. Exchange current density and ion diffusion coefficient rose as the temperature increased, in line with the changes of the discharge capacity of LaFeO3.
