A study on the polymeric triplet sensitizers III: A study on the energy migration in process of sensitization of polymeric acetophenone

Polystyrene was treated with different amount of acetyl chloride to give polymeric sensitizers which were characterized by NMR. Fluorescence and phosphorescence studies showed the presence of electronic energy migration of singlet and triplet as well as T*-T* annihilation in these sensitizers. The sensitized conversion of norbornadiene to quadricyclane indicated that samples containing 38 mol% acetophenone units possessed the max. sensitizing ability.
