Reduotion of perfluoro-2-(2'-fluorosulfonylethogy) propionic acid with sodium sulfite followed by treatment with hydrogen bromide gave perfluoro-2-methyl-3-oxa-glutaric acid. Its dimethyl ester on treating with NHS afforded a diamide (m. p. 162℃),which gave an imide (b. p. 65~68℃/2 mm) instead of a dinitrile on heating with P205. Perfluoro-2-methyl-3-ova-glutaric anhydride (b. p. 69~70℃) was prepared in the usual manner. Their structures were proved by IR, NMR and elemental analysis.
