This paper reports the reversed-phase paper chromatographic separations of rare earth elements, uranium, and thorium. The tributyl phosphate(TBP) saturated with equal volume of eluting solvent was used as the stationary phase.Ammonium thiocyanate in nitric acid solution was used as the eluting solvent. The Rr values of rare earth elements, uranium(Ⅵ) and thorium decrease with increasing concentration of ammonium thiocyanate but increase with increasing concentration of nitric acid. The separations of certain rare earth elements, and of rare elements with uranium and thorium in this system have been achieved. When the eluting solvent was 0.1 N in nitric acid and 0.2 M in ammonium thiocvanate, best results of separation were obtained.
