The present paper deals with the synthesis of three pentapeptides containing the same amino acid sequence of the N-terminal of the A-chain of insulin, but differing in their protecting groups. They are N-carbobenzoxyglycyl-L-isoleucyl-L-valyl-r-methyl-L-glutamyl-L-glutamine (I), N-carbobenzoxyglycyl-L-isoleucyl-L-valyl-y-methyl-L-glutamyl-L-glutamine carbo-t-butoxyhydrazide (Ⅱ) and N-carbobenzoxyglycyl-L-isoleucyl-L-valyl-L-glutamyl-L-glutamine methyl ester (Ⅲ).
