During the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a "three-in-one" combination research group was organized from the workers, which formed the main-force, cadres and technical staffs of Silicon-Steel Sheet Works, Metallurgical Designing Institute and a research institute, for the recovery of sulphuric acid from the waste acid liquor of the steel works.Through the employment of our 5-203 anion ezohange membrane by way of diffusion-dialysis, a fairly satisfactory resint was obtained with an economy of the material as well as an improv.ment of the environment.

In the present investigation,the syntheses of some 12-substituted derivatives of camptotheoin, namely, 12-vitro-(Ⅴ),12-amino-(Ⅵ), 12-hydroxy-(Ⅹ),12-methoxy-(Ⅺ),12-oyano-(Ⅻ), 12-carboxy-(ⅩⅢ),12-carbomethoxy-(ⅪⅤ) and 12-mercapto-(ⅩⅤ) oamptothecin were described.The position of the substituent was determined with the aid of NMR spectroscopy. Camptothecin (Ⅰ) was nitrated in sulfuric acid to give V, of which catalytic hydrogenation led to the formation of Ⅵ.Diazotization of Ⅵ, followed by suitable transformations gave the desired compounds (ⅦⅩⅤ).Preliminary,pharmacological tests revealed that VIII showed much stronger inhibition against L-615.Ⅹ and Ⅺ exhibited stronger inhibition against Ehrlioh ascites carcinoma than Ⅰ.Further pharmacological examination is in progress.

Deoxyharringtonine (Ⅰ) isolated from Cephalotazzcs plant material is known as an alkaloid with significant inhibitory activity against P-388 leukemia.We now report the synthesis of deoxyharringtonine (Ⅰ) by condensation of a-ketoacid (Ⅳ) with cephalotaxine (Ⅴ) through a Reformatsky reaction.The analogues (Ⅱ,Ⅲ)of deoxyharringtonine (Ⅰ) have been synthesized by the same procedure.

We have studied tho oligomerization of tetrafluoroethylone and its application, Oligomerization of tetrafluoroethylene catalyzed by fluoride ion produced an easily separable mixture of oligomers in 78% yield.The structures of the tetramers and pentamer were confirmed as Ⅰ and Ⅱ respectively.The sulphonate derivative of the pentamer (Ⅵ) has been used satisfactorily as a degreasing agent for non-cyanide electroplating on copper.

A hydrometallurgical process for recovering some valuable elements from the dust in smelting manganese-rioh dregs is proposed.The dust is first treated with sulfurio said,and then at appropriate pH,zino together with manganese is separated by precipitation and subsequently converted into the corresponding sulfate and carbonate.The micro elements,such as gallium,indium and thallium,present in the dust,are separated by means of solvent extractions.Experimental results indicate that ootanol-(2) and N,N-di-(1'-methylheptyl) aoetamide are effective extractants.

In order to meet the needs of the silkworm-growing programme in our country,we have synthesized two insect hormone mimics possessing high juvenile hormone activity to be used for improving silk yield.These compounds(Ⅵ,Ⅶ) were prepared from geraniol(Ⅷ) or linalool(Ⅸ).Treatment of Ⅷ or Ⅸ with phosphorus trihalide gave geranyl halide(Ⅹ).Alkaline catalysed condensation of X with p-ethyl phenol afforded the P-ethyl phenyl terpenoid ether(ⅩⅠ),whioh on alkoxymercuration in the appropriate alcohol followed by borohydride demercuration furnished the final product(Ⅵ) or(Ⅶ) respectively with the diethogy compound(Ⅷ) as a by-product.The biological activity of Ⅵ is superior in comparision with that of Ⅶ.The physical and chemical constants of the final products and related intermediates were recorded.

Tigogenin,hecogenin,9-dehydrohecogenin,rockogenin,12-epirockogenin,gitogenin,chlorogenin and manogenin were isolated from leaves of
Agave americana
L.gathered from Kwangtung Province.Although 12-epirockogenin has been reported in the literature as the reduction product of hecogenin,yet it is the first time ever isolated directly from a plant.The NMR spectra of these sapogenins with the exception of gitogenin were also reported and discussed.
