A study on the chemical constituents of the essential oil from Piper wallichii(Miq.) Hand.-Mazz.

Abstract

The P. wallichii oils was analyzed by gas chromatog. and mass spectrometry. The principal constituents were: a-pinene, sabinene (24.76), d-3-carene (14.98%), a-phellandrene, limonene, b-ocimene, terpinen-4-ol, b-elemene, b-caryophyllene, g-muurolene, b-selinene, b-patchoulene, a-patchoulene, b-maaliene, d-cadinene, (E)-nerolidol, spathulenol, guaiol, a-caryophyllene alcohol, b-eudesmol, elemicin, (E)-isoelemicin, and (Z)-isoelemicin. The essential oil can be used in soap and tobacco products.
