Double Michael addition of isopropylidene malonate

Abstract

The Michael addition of isopropylidenemalonate to (RCH:CH)2CO (R = Ph, 4-ClC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4, 3-ClC6H4, 2-MeOC6H4) under the phase transfer conditions is reported, and a convenient method of controlling single and double Michael addition is presented. Using this method, five single addition products I and five double addition products II were prepared
