Stirring BzCH2Br with RC6H4CHO (R = H, 3-O2N, 4-O2N, 3-Cl, 4-Cl, 3-Br, 4-Br, 4-Me, 4-MeO, 4-Me2N) in the presence of KI and AlCl3 or TiCl4 at 50-70?for 4-6 h gave 70-91% (E)-RC6H4CH:CHBz.
