Efficient and automatic methods of sequencing peptides and proteins are always the most demanded techniques in biological research. As a promising tool on the elucidation of molecular structures, mass spectrometry has been used in the sequencing of peptides and proteins for several years. It has become more and more popular in the biological work. This paper reviews the different methods on this technique, which include the activation methods (collision-activated dissociation, postsource decay, insource decay, et al.), derivative influence and so on.
